CD Release! Pass It On

This December sees the release of the new CD: Pass It On, a funky blend of upbeat old-style R&B, jazzy lyric-driven pieces with gorgeous piano fills, sexy love songs speckled with Wurlitzer and dreamy guitar solos, and moody, bluesy songs with lush harmonies.

Pass It On has been in the works for a couple of years alongside a twin record to be released in 2020 with similar lyric themes, but sporting a sound closer to country swing. These records have been inspired by changes in the world today, but also things that never change in love and life.

We enjoyed many productive sessions at Cassandra Studio in Beacon with Rob Kissner of The Big Takeover band, graciously engineering. Back in my own studdio, I worked through most of the track editing and arrnaging, and then met with Rob again for mixing.

So many great players on this record! As always, Steve Raleigh graced these arrangements with his unique sense of melody and captivating tone, Art Labriola plays piano, Hammond organ and Wurlitzer on this record in a way that brings every song up several notches in irresistibility and sheer elegance, on bass, Adam Cote and Jim Curtin brought their jazz-infused funk to bear, and T. Xiques with his keen sense of timing and nuance held it all together on drums.

The big arrangement on ‘That’s What She Said’ features Matt Finck on guitar and Bill Holloman who fleshed out my horn arrangment. Percussion for ‘I’ll See You There” added by the talented Manuel Quintana. Yours truly played some keys on ‘So Much More’ and ‘I’ll See You There’ as well as the drums on the goofy after thought: ‘Do What You Wanna Do’.

The music will be out soon on Amazon and streaming. Check in on the news page here at www.margaretmcduffie.com, or join the mailing list for updates and features and show announcements.

Sunday, December 22nd at 9pm we’ll be celebrating with a informal CD release party at Dogwood, a wonderful bar & restaurant in popular Beacon, NY in the Hudson Valley. If you’re in the area, come join us!
