'Dreamers of Atlantis' Soon to Arrive on the Scene

My next release is in the works, and a mere few weeks away! This new ‘LP’ starts with a cover of a lesser known tune from 1956, the story of love discarded with a romping beat and watery sound effects, crooned in the old style. Like the opener, there’s an old-fashionedness to a lot of the songs, a manner of speaking that opens up and invites you in. It was a lot of fun making this record, and rewarding to capture certain songs that eluded me before. The title track, ‘Dreamers of Atlantis’, was one of them. It’s a song I wrote what now seems long ago, but has a timelessness about it that is hard to miss and the playing on it is perfection.

All the songs were recorded at Cassandra Studios in Beacon, with overdubs added from various directions, especially after Covid-19 came our way. I was lucky to have all that editing and arranging to do in my little sound cave at home at such a tense and uncertain time, and really grateful for the people I’ve worked with on this project - both in person and remotely - to see it through.

Speaking of whom, many thanks to all the players who gave their time and sounds to Dreamers of Atlantis: T. Xiques, Steve Raleigh, Art Labriola, Matt Finck, Adam Coté, Sam Friedman, Jim Curtin, Sara Milonovich, Manuel Quintana, Eric Puente, and Chris Macchia.
